Who we are
Arctic Tuning is a mobile ECU and gearbox remapping business covering about 25 miles round Oswestry, from Chester to Shrewsbury. For anything about your data, message us on WhatsApp or call 07301 079925.
The reg check
- When you enter a registration, our server sends it to the DVSA MOT History service (and the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service, where that's connected) to find out what the vehicle is. Those are government services, and their own privacy notices apply.
- To keep checks fast, the vehicle details for a registration are held in our server's memory and our hosting provider's cache for up to 12 hours, and occasionally up to a day longer while the cache refreshes. We don't store registrations in a database or link them to you.
- Engine figures are worked out from the make, model and engine size, never the registration, using our own engine list and, where needed, public sources such as Wikipedia.
- The registration is part of the results page's web address so you can share it. Anyone you share that link with will see the same vehicle details.
Cookies and tracking
- This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts.
- Your browser keeps one small note in its session storage so the opening animation only plays once per visit. It's deleted when you close the tab.
- When you check a reg, your browser remembers that car (the reg, its name and its figures) in its own storage for 30 days, so the home page can offer it again. It stays on your device. Press "Forget" next to it on the home page, or clear this site's data, to remove it.
- To stop the reg check being overloaded, our server notes the internet address making each check for one minute, in memory only.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, as with any website, under its own privacy policy.
Photos and fonts
Photos and fonts are all hosted on this site, so viewing a page doesn't contact anyone else.
The PDF sheet
The downloadable Stage 1 report is made on your own device. Nothing is sent to us when you download it.
The postcode check and booking planner
Both work entirely in your browser. The postcode check compares the first half of your postcode with a list built into the page, so your postcode isn't sent anywhere. The booking planner only writes a WhatsApp message for you: nothing reaches us unless you choose to send it in WhatsApp.
When you message or call us
We use your number, your registration and what you tell us to quote, book and carry out the work, and we keep the records needed for the job and our accounts. WhatsApp's own privacy policy also applies to messages sent through it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message us and we'll sort it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
